| Reproducible Injections |
|
The syringe only concept of the PAL series of LC sample loaders combines the manual sample injection procedure with the precision and throughput of a robotic liquid handling system. Samples are aspirated with a conventional liquid syringe and are transferred directly into the sample loop. No error prone teflon tubing or transfer lines are involved during the sample loading process. |

Before and after each injection the syringe and syringe needle (needle inside and outside) are rinsed in a dedicated Fast Wash Station containing two different cleaning solvents. This unique design virtually eliminates sample carryover and adsorption problems at the syringe. |
| Probe Cleaning Protocols |
| Schedule one or more rinses in between samples to reduce carryover to undetectable levels. Tough CapNMR transfer lines of either fused silica or Teflon FEP allow choice of organic solvents or oxiders (e.g., peroxide) to be used for optimal cleaning. Turn on ‘Active Baseline Monitoring’ to ensure the probe is squeaky clean before injecting the next sample. |

| Filter Backwash to Extend Life |
| In-line filters prevent particulates greater than 2 microns in size, from entering capillary valves and plumbing. Although filters are easily replaced, automated backwashing after each sample can greatly increase the lifetime of these defensive components.. Protasis customers using the ‘reverse rinse’ routinely process hundreds of samples in a row without filter changes. |
| Backpressure Monitoring |
| An integral pressure transducer monitors backpressure on the transfer line and flowcell. In the rare event of a system blockage, the controller will sense a pressure increase and shut the system down immediately. |
| Automatic System Flush |
| Scheduled flushes remove analyte from the flowcell and transfer line at the end of each worksession to prevent any potential problems from precipitation or crystallization in the tubing. |
